Hey Ya'll!
It is almost Thanksgiving!
I don't know about you, but I am so excited to eat "real", homemade food that's not Sodexo!
The Thanksgiving feast at my house is top notch.
My grandmother, mom, sisters and I spent at least 14 hours preparing food for the feast.
We definitely go over the top.
We create dishes that everyone in my family loves.
Family members from 3 different states all gather together at my house for this special occasion.
It is such a heartwarming time!

Of course, having a Thanksgiving feast in Maryland, we make multiple dishes with old bay.
The food would not be the same without it. It is a must!
Using old bay in our dishes ranges from, lightly sprinkling it on top of deviled eggs to using it as a seasoning in every single dish, combined with the ingredients, and on top.
It is so amusing to see my family members who are not from Maryland react to such the strong taste of the old bay in every single dish. You would think they would be used to it by now!

Not only is the food delicious, but spending quality time with family is whats awesome.
I am extremely thankful for the people that God has put in my life and Thanksgiving is a time where I really feel it.

I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends and truly grow to appreciate what you have!

Hey Ya'll!
I am home! (As usual)
Yesterday, I went out to eat with my boyfriend's family.
We went to The Greene Turtle-this was my first time eating there, and let me say it was delicious!
This is not usually a place I would go to get my crab-hungry fix. Well at least I thought!
But I figured I should venture out of my comfort zone and well, try something crabby there.
 (I was craving it anyway)

I decided to try their crab dip, with pretzel sticks.
Sorry about the fuzzy-ish picture, but mmmm mmmm mmmm it was delish.
This just proves that well, you don't necessarily have to go to Maryland to get yummy crab dip!
There are Greene Turtles in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and even New York!
Go try it out!
Sorry bout all the food posts, well actually...not really. hehe

Ravens vs. Eagles

Hey Ya'll!

Since I am sitting here at home watching the Raven's football game I figured I would talk about then Ravens vs. Eagles.
Can you guess which team is my favorite?
Surprisingly...the Eagles...
I know what you're thinking...
"She is not a true Marylander.", "She likes football?", "She has to be from PA then."
Well, to answer those questions...I am a true Marylander (Have lived here my whole life), I do like football, and nope, definitely not from PA.
The reason why I like the Eagles is because my family lived in Philly for many years before moving to Maryland. When they lived in Philly it was a whole new experience. It was virtually impossible to live in center city Philly and not be a die-hard Eagles fan.
When they moved to Maryland, their love for the Eagles did not die. Naturally, the love for the team was passed on to me.
Some think because we live in Maryland now that means we have to be a Ravens fan, but trust me, that will never happen. Although, I would consider the Ravens to be my second favorite team!
So I would say it is pretty nice to have something in common with you Pennsylvania people.
I am glad we can agree on something!

Hey Ya'll!
Today, I wanted to talk more about Maryland food! (mmm my favorite!)
Not only are (Maryland) crab cakes the best...but so are (Maryland) crab pretzels!

A crab pretzel consists of a warm, soft, salty pretzel with warm, cheesy crab dip on top. Literally the best invention ever.
There is one restaurant in Havre De Grace, Maryland (about 20 minutes away from my house) called MacGregor's that makes THE BEST crab pretzels. By the best, I mean the BEST.
First off, it is huge! (I usually share it with one other person) The pretzel covers the whole plate, so you definitely get your money's worth!
And second, their crab pretzel is rated one of the best in the state of Maryland! Can't get any better than that!

If I were you, I would definitely take an opportunity and go try it!
But if you are unable to drive all the way to Maryland, there of course are alternative options. It will not be as good as MacGregor's crab pretzels, but it's okay, you'll get the point.

Here, is a how-to make your very own homemade crab pretzel, enjoy!!

Hey Ya'll! Happy Fall!
Fall weather is beautiful! (Especially in Maryland)
Leaves changing color, crisp weather, hoodies & sweatshirts, bonfires, it is my favorite!

Today I wanted to tell ya'll about a place real close to my house (in Maryland of course) where I grew up going in the fall. Milburn Orchard's is a place that I will always love. It is a very family friendly place where you can pick apples, go on hay rides, play different games and plus they have the best apple cider donuts around! This attraction is not only open, and beautiful in the fall, but it is open just about all year round to pick a variety of fruits, and purchase yummy baked goods.
I grew up going to Milburn's since I can remember and have always enjoyed it!
I suggest if you have not been there, pick a weekend and go down with some friends and get a whole bunch of apple cider donuts and take cute, basic, fall apple picking pictures! You will not regret it!

Here is a picture of my siblings and I many years ago at Milburn's on a hay ride, great times!

Maryland VS. Pennsylvania

Alright, time to get serious.
I would say that the biggest difference between where I am from and where I am now is the scenery and the surrounding environment.
Where I live, I am surrounded by farms and cattle (that's literally it).
Where I am now I am surrounded by other colleges, a huge mall, fast food places, restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores and other businesses (basically everything).
Where I live, the closest:
College: is 5 minutes away (Cecil College)
Mall: 35 minutes away (Christiana mall, DE)
Fast food: 20 minutes away (McDonald's)
Restaurants: 2 minutes away (Wesley's)
Movie Theater: 30 minutes away (People's Plaza, DE)
Grocery store: is 20 minutes away (Martin's)
Obviously, almost everywhere I need to go is a hike.  Sometimes it can be a pain, but on the other hand it's nice to get away from everything
Since I live in the middle of nowhere, when I try to explain to people where I live, this always seems to be their reaction...So I thought it was appropriate to post.

Crab Cake Recipe, You're Welcome

Hey ya'll,
So today I have been craving a food from my home town, as always.
Something that you can't get around here (at least not a good one).
Something that originated in Maryland, of course.
Something crabby, something cakey........
CRAB CAKES....oh how I miss them so much!
Please do not tell me that you have never had one of these before. If so, you need to drop what you are doing right now, drive to Maryland, and have yourself one/100 of these babies! Crab cakes have to be the best thing ever created. They are so moist, well seasoned (if made right), and all around delicious!
Oh my goodness, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! I don't know why I ever left!
But no seriously, either drop what you are doing and drive to Maryland, or drop what you are doing and go get these ingredients...(and a kitchen...you college students, you) hahaha

Sooooo, I was feeling generous and decided to share the crab cake goodness with ya'll. Below is a video displaying the steps of how to make yummy crab cakes. It is a very complex process, so do not mess it up, or you will regret it! Don't forget the Old Bay, of course! You're welcome, and enjoy :)

Who would have thought that a "country girl" from Fair Hill, Maryland (Cecil Tucky) would end up going to college in the city. Well folks, it happened, I never thought it would...but it did. This is gonna take some getting used to. Welcome to the journey!
Fair warning- you may notice some verbage that you may not be used to, I tend to say:
Ya'll
Folks
Cecil Tucky (aka Cecil County)
Tractors
Farms
Verbage
Old Bay
A LOT
(just be thankful you are not actually hearing me say these things)
I understand this may be new vocab for some of you and I also understand that most of you are still wondering where and what "Cecil Tucky" is. Trust me, it's fine...I'm used to it, no one knows, we'll get there.
Welcome to the struggle of a girl from a small town in Maryland...not living in Maryland!
